DIY bliss!

What's a girl to do when she wants her apartment to feel like home but is living life on a --- we'll just say less than pottery barn -- budget? DIY decorating my friends.

Not only is DIY decorating adorable and wallet friendly, but I love the ability to have everything in your home be one of a kind and perfectly tailored to your taste!

While browsing around for ideas and inspiration on pinterest, I came across these two lovely ideas for over the bed art and decided to combine them to give my dreadful white walls a little love.

The first, from ballard designs for $169.00

And the second from DIY Chic Home

When I was still living in Pennsylvania and painted my room a dreamy shade of grey, I spray painted everything in my possession white

But when I found out a week later that I would be moving to Nashville, I was left with empty white frames and no idea what to do with them.

So after spending an indulging amount of time in Hobby Lobby (the south has been holding out from the north with this store... think about the sheer wonder that would be if Home Goods and A.C. Moore had a child, on steroids) and I found myself some cute scrapbook paper pages, for fifty cents a piece.

I attached them to the back of the frames in about three minutes and then spread the frames out on my floor and tested every possible hanging combination.

Once I eventually picked one, I popped a few nails in the wall and voila!

They add a small touch of color and most importantly give me a sense of feeling like this place is my home. And because I already had the frames and nails, it only cost me $3! I'd love to keep adding to this so the frames can be more condensed and the look as a whole will be bigger -- so I'm going to be on the hunt for cheap frames of different shapes and sizes every time I leave the house now. And if I get around to painting my walls or buying a new comforter that doesn't go along with the color scheme, switching out the backs of these frames is as easy as changing a pillow case.

Lets face it, DIY decorating is a win for everyone! What DIY project are you most proud of?

post-grad life begins

The fun moments of graduation are wearing off and I'm settling in and adjusting to life back at home with my parents and sisters. I really do love being home, we haven't all lived together for 4 years, so it feels good to be together again. I'm lucky that my mom works from home, so I have a buddy around the house with me during the day.

Today I started re-painting my room, I'm really excited about this! It's been hot pink since high school, so I was more than ready for a more sophisticated adjustment. I'm doing grey walls and hopefully gathering fun and adorable color accents and decorations as time goes on. I can't wait to move all of my stuff in and transform the room from "my obnoxiously colored high school bedroom that I sleep in over Christmas break," to simply "my room." Here are a few of my inspirations

grey walls are so soothing and dreamy, I may never get out of bed.. maybe this was a bad idea?

I'm OBESSED with this bedspread, obviously from my favorite store of all time, tarjey (aka target.)
I need to figure out how to do a photo frame collage like this, they are so cute and I love displaying photos!

In between looking for a job, my summer 'to keep busy' goals are to 1. re-paint and decorate my bedroom 2. start a vegetable garden 3. blog more frequently 4. re-paint my bathroom 5. cook something new every week.

The hardest part? Of all of those, finding a job will undoubtedly be the hardest and least likely to happen this summer. But, I'm at home with a great family who I've missed more than I let myself realize over the past four years, a new bedroom on the way and potentially my OWN veggie garden soon (fresh basil on my food every night --- can you imagine my bliss!?)

So as far as I see, life isn't just good, it's SO good.

Goodnight dear friends!

And just when I was starting to think I was doing this regularly

I went and took a week and a half off.

So many wonderful things have happened in the last 10 days. Most (but not all) revolving around 3 days, 46 hours, and 9.5 million dollars, but I'll post about that this weekend.

Hints: I didn't win, steal, spend or find 9.5 million.

Although there has been one 'low' for the past week and a half. I have heard of it a lot before, although it never affected me until now -- senioritis.

Ugh, that scary word that makes me melt into a ball of laziness and apathetic-ness. I don't, at all, want to do school work. I was lucky to have an extremely light course load this semester, the perfect way to end college, or so I thought. And while I enjoy not staying up cramming until 5am two nights out of the week, since the classes I'm taking don't matter towards my career I am finding it impossible to find the drive to do the work. I have never been as "ehh, whatever" as I have this semester. The downside of all of this is that I can't even find joy in not doing work -- I feel guilty all the time and small little assignments are constantly hanging over my head. Not fun.

But, spring break is just around the corner and I'll be spending mine in sunny and warm Jacksonville, FL. Someone pass the SPF and an epic driving playlist please.

Random side note, while in the midst of my senioritis I've been daydreaming about what my post-grad home will look like, assuming it's not in my high school bedroom of course. Check out my musings below.

Happy Thursday -- the weekend will be here before you know it!
